After a month stopage building has started again

Well, when building a house, always add extra room for walls, as the dimensions that you are seeing on the plans are outside walls, not inside.

We decided after the basement walls where poured that we needed more room.  We stopped building with the tresses in the driveway ready to be put up.

What did we do?  Well the great people at 3 pillars let us stop and added a room over the garage as a guest suite.  This give us an additional 471 sq feet of finished space and 184 sq ft of unfinished sq ft

The building has begun

Some of you don't know, but we decided to build a new house in the Sunbury,oh area. We have asked 3 Pillars LLC to work with us along the way, as I don't have enough time to manage all of the work. I'm a bit late in starting this, so here's what's happened so far.

We bought the property on Sept. 30th, 2014
We started moving dirt on Friday, Dec 12, 2014, YEA
The first big thing we had to do is do a little digging to allow for our walk out ranch.
Dec 12, 2014, Kids out by "the big digger"
The team from Bradford Excavating did a great job digging and moving dirt around.

On Monday, Dec 15th, the area for the footings to be put where being dug.  Well, you never want to get a text on the first real day of the dig to let you know they needed you at the property.  So I rushed from work to the house.  Here is what I found.
This is where the footings are suppose to go
So they added a hole for the water to drain into

The soil engineer said it was no big deal and to just put some big #4 rocks in this spot and drain the water out and put the concrete in.

This is where the kudos goes out to Doug our construction manager from 3 Pillars LLC.  Never once was he concerned or nervous. I on the other hand, that's a different story.

Dec 19, 2014, They dug us a long ditch that we will probably have to put in a french drain

Dec 19, 2014, the footing are poured and the concrete forms are ready to go up

Dec 22, and the forms are up and ready for the big concrete pour
Dec 23, 2014 the concrete is poured
Jan 5th, 2015 Waterproofing and back fill is done
So there are a lot of steps that go on between foundation pour and putting up wood, inspector sign offs, back fill, waterproofing sump pump lines etc.  If you would like to build a house this is not the blog for you as it's an oversimplification :)

The steel arrived on Jan 9th, and the i-Beams are planned to arrive on Jan 12th.  I will make more posts about the selection criteria and why 3 Pillars at a later date.

So Long Facebook. and I hope more people follow, you information is not safe and either are your kids!

More new adventures

Well, we have had even more new adventures this weekend.  Jenny has decided to go into sales.  Sales of what?  Children's books of course.  Come take a look:  You know you want to buy some books for Christmas instead of all of the typical garbage.  Give a child a book, and let there imagination run wild.

New adventures: In the Dog Kennel?

Well, Jenna sure is starting her own little adventures.  Take a look at these pictures.  No I didn't put her in the kennel, I was working downstairs on my computers, and she decided to crawl into Trips.  She wanted to pet Deuce, who for some reason likes to lay in his kennel.  I couldn't resist the photo opp.  It seems getting in is much easier than getting out. :}
